After introducing the 100 day tested and graded Hanoverian stallion, ‘Saint Malo’, to Equestrian Life readers last season as the new stallion at Ravendale Stud, here’s an update on his progress.


In his first season at Ravendale Stud, Saint Malo welcomed a wide variety of mares from purebred Hanoverians to Thoroughbreds, Welsh, & Irish Sports mares. This really illustrates his suitability to a good range of mare types to produce dressage, event and all round sports horses. Ravendale are eagerly awaiting his first foals to be born at the Stud and report that Malo is fit and ready for the 2012 season.


Previously standing in Germany & Sweden, his eldest progeny will be 4 years old this year in the UK. In mainland Europe his offspring succeed in both dressage and showjumping. No surprise when you look at his bloodlines, a fantastic mix of International competition horses with proven

dual purpose success. ‘Salieri’, Saint Malo’s illustrious sire, has the rare claim of siring two horses competing at the same Olympics in different disciplines! These being ‘Salinero’ (Anky van Grunsven’s amazing double Olympic Gold medal dressage partner) and the German Showjumper, ‘Seven’ Up.
