In 2010 a program to recognize our extraordinary Associate members was developed. Associates make up about two-thirds of the GHBA membership and through ex t ra financial commitments from sponsorships, they finance a large portion of the advocacy and ongoing work on behalf of the housing industry.
The new SAM program highlights the Associate members who are Grand ($10,000) or Premier ($5,000) Sustaining Associate Members. This recognition is exclusively for financial contributions made by ASSOCIATE members on an annual basis, and is limited specif ically to event sponsorships, advertising in Houston Builder magazine, and advertising on the GHBA Web site or e-newsletter.
Each year GHBA publishes a Marketing Guide for the upcoming year. All types of sponsorship opportunities are listed in the guide. Any associate member whose financial contributions through sponsorships and advertising in the magazine or online reach $10,000 or more during the year will become a Grand Sustaining Associate Member. Any associate member whose contributions reach between
$5,000 and $10,000 during the year will become a Premier Sustaining Associate Member.
(For clari f icat ion, i tems not included in Sustaining Associate Member calculations are payments for dues, event tickets, directory advertising, speed selling, HOME- PAC contributions, and any other payment for regular fees or services such as booth space or table tickets. Recognition includes: an initial article in Houston Builder; monthly listing of the Sustaining Associate Members in Houston Builder; distinguishing ribbons or other marks on name tags to provide a means for Sustaining Associate Members to be recognized at all events; recognition of the top member of each (current year’s) Sustaining Associate Member group at each forecast and political luncheon; signage in the entranceway of the GHBA building where the current year Sustaining Associate Members will be displayed; and GHBA officers will convey the value of Sustaining Associate Members when they
