ecent projections regarding the outlook for 2012 have many professionals in our industry walking with more pep in their step as they look forward to a relatively active start to the year. Traffic is increasing and conversion rates seem very encouraging in the first quarter.
As I speak with various industry professionals, a common observation I’ve heard time and again is that activity is picking up in their models long before the end of January. Many sales people share the opinion that traffic and sales pick up after the Super Bowl, so it is refreshing to see things coming alive earlier this year.
The Sales and Marketing Council is preparing for an active year as well, as we remain committed to the education, motivation and growth of our membership. SMC hosted a successful Million Dollar Circle Awards night at the Omni Hotel last

month, where we celebrated the success of more than 100 sales professionals across the Houston area.
Back by popular demand, the Battle of the Builders will take place May 22 and again on October 23, where defending champions and those aspiring to win the title will come together to test their skills for possession of the Official Champions’ Belt, and, of course, bragging rights.
Big plans are now underway for the Houston’s Best Awards, and the committee is planning for the celebration to be the best yet. The call for entries will be released in May and the event date is October 6. Watch your inbox for more information.
