News Ultra comfortable
Acro Aircraft Seating is to supply Primera Air with its Ultra economy class seat. The new seat has been specified by launch customer Primera Air who has recently taken delivery of the first shipset for retrofit installation on its five strong 737NG fleet. With measurable increases in legroom over conventionally constructed seats of more than 2”, the UK manufactured seat is designed to combine robustness and low cost of ownership with light weight and a design based on a chassis which has been proven over 3 years, with more than 10,000 seats in service. Odd Gomsrud, Director of Technical Operations at Primera, said that the focus of the cabin refit was to improve passenger comfort, reduce weight, and improve reliability. “Primera’s cabin refurbishment project is all about providing excellent service and improving efficiency. Our passenger comfort levels are significantly increased by the Acro Ultra seat, which at 29” pitch gives legroom comparable to a conventional seat at 32”. For Primera, the cost savings associated with weight reduction and maintenance of this very durable seat are an essential part of staying competitive in today’s market.”
Eliminate headphone pin breakage
Audio Jack breakage is a serious problem for the airline industry, generating increased operational cost to airlines and also significant passenger frustration from the
resulting denial of their IFE experience. The result is a highly disproportionate damage to service delivery promises and to brand reputation. Airlines can now completely eliminate headphone pin breakage by fitting the SmartMagJack™
quick-release audio jack,
developed by Phitek Systems Ltd. This is a replacement RJU which fits into existing seat cut- outs and automatically releases headphones when excessive forces are exerted in any direction. Clean, simple design that’s fully functional in execution and operationally rewarding in full-cabin deployment. The SmartMagJack™
mates with a patented,
magnetic plug which can be made compatible with all headphone types and eliminates pin breakage at the RJU interface. Crucially, the magnetic plug costs the same as traditional, unreliable headphone plugs and can be bought through an airlines’ existing supply chain.
More than trends for soft interiors
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2012, Lantal will present its latest Conceptional Forecast collection for total cabin concepts crafted to maximise passenger well-being. The highlights in seat cover fabrics are enchanting
large-repeat colour gradations and relief effects, complemented by smooth stripes, granular textures and waffle patterns. Colourways emphasise subtle blues, elegant graphite greys, earthy hues, and zesty accents. In carpets, fishbone and tweed classics have been reinterpreted and paired with structures as well as
novel patterns featuring generous faded repeats. Matching curtains and leathers round out the collection with designs and colours based on Lantal’s Conceptional Forecast 2012. Thanks to the company’s ongoing research on themes of relevance in mobility and materials, airlines and designers alike can make the right decisions and minimise the investment risk based on an objective, well-balanced selection with long-term validity for signature cabin interiors.
