Housed in a one- rack-unit chassis (above), the CC-3D can be operated from an Eyeheight FP-9C colour- corrector control panel. A single control panel can also be networked via CAT5 (Eth- ernet) cable to drive multiple CC-3D systems. An optional browser-based Java software panel is available.


SORENSON RELEASES SQUEEZE 8


Sorenson Media has released a new desk- top video encoding platform. Squeeze 8 includes adaptive bit rate encoding for new formats, with optimised performance for Adobe Dynamic Streaming, Apple HTTP Adaptive Streaming and Microsoft Smooth Streaming. The adaptive bit rate support transcodes individual video files into multi- ple, chunked segments in a range of bitrates. Sorenson Squeeze 8 Lite makes some fea- tures of the full version of the software avail- able at a reduced price. Sorenson Squeeze 8 is available now for $599 (£386), $200 less than version 7. Squeeze 8 Lite is priced at $199 (£125).


NIKON STEPS UP VIDEO PUSH


Nikon has made its “biggest video push yet” with the launch of a new DSLR. The D4 can record in 1080p at up to 30fps, or 60fps at 720p, and has a maximum recording time of 29 minutes 59 seconds. The camera’s sensor has three formats: full frame, DX and 2.75 cropped. It records H.264 at 24Mbps, has an HDMI output and is the first camera to


record to Sony’s new XQD memory cards. “Where people might previously have con- sidered our competitors, when they see this camera’s image quality it will open doors to us as a brand,” said Nikon spokes- man and professional services training man- ager James Banfield.


TERADEK ENABLES 3G UPLOADING


Teradek has launched on-location video- over-mobile device Bond. By combining multiple 3G dongles, the device allows video to be uploaded to the internet or a receiver from anywhere with access to a 3G network. Bond is based on Teradek’s Cube encoder technology. The new device is designed to attach to digital camcorders and can support up to five 3G or 4G cellular modems simulta- neously from multiple carriers worldwide. It has a list price of £1,725.


DR ADDS PANASONIC SUPPORT


Digital Rapids has added support for Pana- sonic AVC-Intra format to the newest version of the Digital Rapids Stream software for its StreamZ, StreamZHD and Flux encoding and live streaming solutions. Version 3.7 also includes 64-bit operating system support, cue point insertion for live streaming with Adobe Flash technologies, and enhanced H.264 and MPEG-2 encoding. As well as support for encoding to Panasonic’s AVC- Intra format, version 3.7 expands the soft- ware’s support for the Sony XDCam system with import and export of XDCam HD media in QuickTime MOV containers. The unan- nounced version 3.6 upgrade, released in August, included support for Dolby Digital AC-3 audio pass-through and updates to Civolution NexGuard forensic watermarking.


LIBEC LAUNCHES TELESCOPIC JIB


Libec has launched a jib with a telescopic arm that extends to 190cm by turning the lock levers. Fully extended, the Jib50 can hold a 10Kg load and at its shortest setting – 100cm – it can hold 20Kg. A remote-control box, monitors and a remote head can all be fitted to the jib.

PRECO UNVEILS COMPACT MONITOR


Preco is launching a compact video monitor designed for cramped connections. The Cool- touch RX-702HD (above) occupies three RU of a standard 19-inch rack space. It incorpo- rates dual seven-inch 16:9 LCD screens, each of which is an active matrix TFT LCD with 800 RGB triads x 480 pixels resolution. Aspect ratio is switchable between 16:9 and 4:3, and both displays are have their own audio moni- toring channels that can be sourced from ana- logue inputs or extracted from SDI streams. It handles SD-SDI and HD-SDI, HDMI, compo- nent, dual composite video and audio.


OLYMPUS OFFERS XLR CONNECTION


Olympus’s new on-location recording device, the LS-100 (below), includes an XLR connection for individually setting the recording level for the L/R channel and phantom power supply (48V/24V). Directional microphones can capture up to 140dB and it has a 4GB memory plus SD (XC) slot.
