Sony will have four areas at its BVE stand covering corporate and live event production, ENG (electronic news gathering) and EFP (electronic fi eld production), live production, and digital cinematography. The Earls Court exhibition centre will be the setting for the fi rst UK public showing of Sony’s new F65 (pictured below), as the manufacturer begins shipping the camera to UK dealers. Accord- ing to Sony Professional sales manager Dave Cheesman, 4K technology will be one of the key forces driving the industry this year. He says: “At BVE, Sony will show how customers are using 4K to excite viewers by enabling them to experience the highest quality images possible, just as the director intended.”

Among the cameras on show will be Panasonic’s compact AG-AF101, which is the fi rst model in the manufacturer’s AVCCAM series to offer exchangeable lenses, along with P2 format AG-HPX250EJ – the fi rst 10-bit hand-held model to feature the AVC-Intra 100 codec. The cameras will feed Panasonic’s new plasma monitors, including the BT-300 series.

The Alexa Studio camera, which started ship- ping in December and was recently awarded the British Society of Cinematographers’ 2011 Bert Easey Technical Award, will be on show at Arri’s stand. Also on display will be the Alexa M, a modular camera featuring the


same 4 x 3 sensor as the Studio that has been picked up by the Cameron Pace Group for its 3D projects. The recently released upgrade, which gives users the ability to shoot 120fps, will also be demonstrated at the show.

The UK launch of Camera Corp’s Q-Ball Pre-Set camera (pictured above) has been slated to take place at BVE. Camera Corps says the remotely controlled pan, tilt, zoom HD/SD device was developed in response to clients’ demands to be able to store and rapidly recall camera movement data. Each Q-Ball Pre-Set can store up to 18 system confi gurations within the head so they are retained after the system is powered down. “Q-Ball robotic camera systems are being

It will be the last time BVE is staged in West London before the conference and exhibition packs up and moves across the city to the Excel exhibition centre in the Docklands, but organisers have promised it will be the biggest show yet, with 90 more exhibitors making their debuts and 30% more seminars than last year.
