Broadcast TECH APPOINTMENTS MOLINARE HIRES SENIOR COLOURIST


Technicolor senior colourist Asa Shoul (pictured left) has joined Soho post facility Molinare. At Tech- nicolor, Shoul served as DI consult- ant on features including Gulliver’s Travels, John Carter, World War Z and Gambit. His TV drama credits include HBO’s Generation Kill and Sky 1 co-pro Strike Back: Project Dawn. Shoul began his career in


1994 as a telecine colourist at Framestore, where he helped to develop the Baselight grading system. In 1998, Shoul won the International Monitor Award for his grading on Hallmark mini- series Merlin, and went on to win two more Monitor awards for Alice In Wonderland and Arabian Nights.


ED CALVERLEY OASYS Playout tech- nology firm Oasys has appointed Ed Calverley as solutions


design manager. Calverley will work with the sales and develop- ment teams and clients to build automated playout systems. He joins Oasys from Miranda, where he played a central role in the development and delivery of IT- based playout system iTX. Oasys chief executive Mark Errington said: “Ed’s broadcast experi- ence, combined with his ability to design pragmatic customer solutions, will be invaluable, as will his input into the continued development of our automated playout solutions.”


JAMES CROSSLAND ENCOMPASS


Encompass Digital Media has recruited former BBC DMI tech- nical director James Crossland.

Crossland, who was previously director of systems develop- ment at the BBC, has joined the playout company in the newly created role of chief technology officer. Before joining the BBC, Crossland was head of technol- ogy delivery at ITV.


TERRY MILLARD VIDEO EUROPE Hire company Video Europe has appointed Terry Millard (pictured left) as business


development director. Millard, who joins Video Europe from Onsight, will look after its cam- era and non-linear business. He has also been given the task of securing more project and outside broadcast work. “The continued expansion of our cam- era and non-linear business will allow us to supply production and post solutions to a wider arena,” said Video Europe man- aging director Steve Green.


PETER GALLEN TEDIAL Media asset management firm Tedial has appointed Peter Gallen as solu- tion architect.


Gallen will be involved in the design and execution of media asset management projects, as well as producing technical research and marketing literature. Tedial sales and marketing direc- tor Rafael Dubois said: “Peter has an array of contacts, having vast experience setting up distribution networks in former roles.”


MARK COOKE TYRELL CCT Tyrell CCT has appointed Mark Cooke to the position of sales manager. Based in Tyrell’s Soho office, Cooke will focus on work- flow and digital media sales for clients in the UK post and broad- cast markets. Prior to joining Tyrell, Cooke was technical sales manager at Technical Earth. Tyrell managing director Mark Lynn said: “Mark’s combined sales and technical knowledge will be a tremendous asset for Tyrell CCT and our clients.”


MIKE GRIEVE TSL Systems inte- grator TSL has appointed Mike Grieve (pic- tured left) to the role of sales


director. TSL managing director David Phillips said: “We wanted someone who can build relation- ships but who also has the tech- nical understanding to explain how our multi-disciplined team will deliver what we promise.”


HEITMANN AND FLATHERS ASPERA


Aspera has appointed Richard Heitmann as vice-president of marketing. Mike Flathers has also joined the file transfer tech- nology company in the newly created role of chief technologist for the Aspera Developer Plat- form. Flathers joins Aspera from Sorenson Media, where he was chief technology officer. Heit- mann, who was vice-president of marketing at Atempo, now leads all marketing efforts for Aspera.


CLIVE NORTHEN ATG BROADCAST


ATG Broadcast has appointed Clive Northen as chief oper- ating officer. Northen joins


the broadcast systems supplier after five years with Gearhouse Broadcast, where he was general manager. Based at the company’s administrative and engineering centre in Letchworth, Northen reports to managing director Graham Day. “Clive has an ideal combination of commercial and operational experience that will further strengthen ATG Broad- cast’s capabilities,” said Day.


TAMAS VASS AMBERFIN Amberfin has appointed Tamas Vass to the role of sales and partner director to support the company’s EMEA-based chan- nel partners. He was previously European sales director for Image Systems. Ben Davenport has also been recruited as soft- ware product manager.
