go to the South of France every year when school summer holidays come around and it is one of my favourite places. I get to enjoy many of the things I love to do. I get to enjoy the sun, playing tennis, swimming & of course singing.
When I was really young my mum used to put musicals on TV for me and I was mesmerised. That was my first introduction to music. Since I was a baby my next-door neighbour Emily (Daly) has been like my big sister. Emily is almost 6 years older than me and along with my mum she has been a huge influence on me and I guess that’s where I found my love of entertainment. Emily had me listening to music and also had me dancing. She would have someone on, like say Britney Spears, and I really loved the rhythm, beats and dancing long before I took any real notice of the singing or started to try singing myself. I was more fascinated by the musicals such as “Annie” and “The Sound of Music” when I a little girl. Emily is a really cool dancer and into drama etc.
Whilst I was going to primary school at age six I also enrolled in the Emer O’Hanlon School of Dance and Stagecraft in Dublin. I concentrated on dancing and drama and took part in many small shows and a couple of really big shows in Dublin’s world famous Olympia Theatre whilst. I was interested in acting, dance and drama but I did start doing some singing when I was about seven or eight and was told I had a good voice. I wasn’t quite so sure. In junior school I won singer of the year 3
years in a row. I moved to a new primary school in 4th grade and won overall solo singer of the year award last year. It’s a big school, with a lot of really good singers so I was really pleased with that. The school has a huge emphasis on music, drama and sport and it helped develop me and gave me great confidence. I started concentrating on solo singing and also playing a lot of tennis.
I had been playing tennis for fun since I was very young but I joined a major Dublin tennis club and I began to become competitive at the sport and am now competing at provincial level. I moved into 1st year of secondary (high) school last September. It’s the same school campus, which is really cool as there is continuity. I love it there. Music is a huge part of the curriculum and I chose it as one of my subjects. My ambition is to continue improving and developing. I want to be a better singer, piano player, guitarist and I want to write my own material and perform live more.
