Bell Helicotper Delivers First 429 with Multi-mission Configuration


Bell Helicopter announced it has deliv­ ered the first Bell 429 with a multi­mission configuration to Fairfax County, Virginia. This is the first of two Bell 429s being delivered to Fairfax County. Their second Bell 429 is expected to deliver in the second quarter of 2012. This multi­role Bell 429 is capable of com­ pleting missions for airborne law enforce­ ment, helicopter emergency medical servic­ es and search and rescue. This one­of­a­ kind, multi­mission configuration was com­ pleted at Paradigm Aerospace Corporation, a Bell Helicopter Customer Service Facility, located in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. “The Bell 429 has exactly what we were looking for when we searched the market for a true multi­mission helicopter. Its spa­ cious cabin allowed us to be creative in our design,” said Paul Schaaf, Chief Pilot for the Fairfax County Police Department. “We are very pleased with our new Bell 429 and know it will serve us well in the coming years,” Schaaf said.

Eurocopter EC135 Delivery Announced to Capital Air Services


In a company statement issued 20 December 2011, Eurocopter outlined the delivery of an EC135 to UK­based European corporate helicopter charter specialist, Capital Air Services. The cus­ tomised EC135 is the result of a combined design programme carried out by Eurocopter and the House of Hermès. It is the fifth to join the Capital Air Services fleet.


On 22 December 2011, Eurocopter deliv­ ered two EC225 aircraft to commercial air transportation services group, Héli­ Union. According to Eurocopter, the EC225s are configured for offshore opera­ tions and will be deployed for transporta­ tion services for oil and gas companies. The aircraft are the first EC225s to join Héli­Union’s fleet, which already consists of Eurocopter’s AS350, EC145, AS365, AS332. In addition, the company has also ordered four of Eurocopter’s new EC175s, for which deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013.


The EC225 was also ordered by The Tokyo Fire Department according to a 22 December 2011 announcement, following an open competition to expand the organisations rotor craft fleet. The air­ craft, along with a full complement of mission equipment, will be delivered in 2013. ◆
