Venice Tessera NH90 Assembly Line Celebrates Its First Anniversary with a Double Delivery


AgustaWestland, announced that its new NH90 Final Assembly Line, located at Venice Tessera in Italy, has successfully completed its first year of operations and celebrated the joint delivery of an NH90 TTH to the Italian Army and an NH90 NFH to the Italian Navy on December 16th. The facility has completed nine aircraft this year and is set to assemble and deliver up to18 aircraft in 2012. ◆

Kagoshima International Aviation Takes Delivery of a GrandNew Helicopter


AgustaWestland and Kaigai Aviotech Corporation are pleased to announce that Kagoshima International Aviation of Japan has taken delivery of a GrandNew light twin helicopter. This aircraft will be used to perform emergency medical serv­ ice missions in the Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan. A ceremony was held in Kagoshima on 26th December 2011, in presence of the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture and the Mayor of Kagoshima

In late December 2011, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. completed production of an S­92® helicopter for operation by CHC Helicopter on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard. Equipped for dedicated search and rescue (SAR) operations, the helicopter will provide coverage for deep Atlantic Ocean missions, service Ireland’s offshore islands, and provide rescue cover from Cork to Galway on the country’s west coast. Based at Shannon, the new aircraft will replace the current Coast Guard SAR helicopter, a Sikorsky S­61™ helicopter, which has given 20 years of unbroken service. Sikorsky and CHC formalized the purchase in the presence of Chris Reynolds, Irish Coast Guard Director, dur­ ing a hand­over ceremony at Sikorsky’s S­ 92 commercial helicopter assembly facility in Coatesville, Pa. Mr. Reynolds said that the delivery of the new helicopter to serv­ ice some of the roughest and treacherous ocean waters in the world represents a stepped improvement in Ireland’s ability to care for and service its seagoing, coastal and island communities. “We selected CHC and the Sikorsky S­92 as our preferred combination after an
