So to continue, turning round to the next photo the ‘Voie Romaine’ disappears into the field on the left and joins up with a lane at the back of the houses in Les Tricheries, visible in the distance.
From here the road meanders to the left and the right of the D656 which links Agen and Pont du Casse with Tournon d’Agenais and Cahors , which was straightened in relatively recent years. This will come as a surprise to most of our British readers whose understanding of Roman Road construction is that they were built long and straight.
