with tarmac roads we pick up our study from the bins which were visible in the last photograph in Part I, close to the hamlet of Levrau and not far from the road that goes to Roudouloux. We did a detour to see the church where an important Roman roadway marker (called a Borne Milliaire) was found being used we believe, to support the font. We were amazed to find that the church, an important part of our story, has been almost completely demolished leaving only part of the apse still standing.

his part of our research was fairly easy. Following the old cadastral as well as modern maps

Looking back south towards the bins from the farm track near Levrau. The modern road here goes towards Agen, with Sauvagnas to the right and La Sauvetat de Saveres to the left.

In the next photograph some of the group are walking through the wood, following the centre of the ‘Voie Romaine’, with ditches to either side, though these were hard to see because of the trees.
