SALES & MARKETING COUNCIL NEWS

Reflecting on 2011 and a Look Forward to the New Year

all that her hard work and dedication helped the council accomplish last year. Under Ashleigh’s leadership, the Sales & Marketing Council was able to rejuvenate its members and make our biggest event of the year, the Houston’s Best Awards, an enormous success. Judges flew in from all over the country and were tasked with choosing winners from more than 300 member entries. The celebratory event enjoyed record attendance and the winners were invited a week later to a special forum, “How to Market your Houston’s Best Awards,” led by committee members and long-time winners who know how to showcase their award winning work.

Additionally, SMC hosted multiple events, which included everything from networking nights at popular locations such as the Tasting Room and Block 7 to a serious competition coined “Battle of the Builders,” where builder sales counselors gathered in their respective teams to put their brains to the test in a series of trivia- styled games which helped sharpen their knowledge of the industry.

One of the most important events that SMC hosts each year is the Million Dollar

any thanks to 2011 SMC President Ashleigh Genzer and

Circle Awards. This annual event is designed to honor sales counselors who are top producers for their homebuilding companies. These recipients are responsible for making the magic happen and are more than deserving of a night of applause and a pat on the back. Last year, SMC honored 129 sales counselors at the awards ceremony and many more throughout the year as we recognized top producers bi-annually.

As we reflect on a successful year for SMC and graciously thank Ashleigh for her leadership, I am thrilled and honored to take over the reins as council president for 2012. We plan to take the momentum generated last year and use it to keep the excitement growing for SMC. As builders, developers and associate members look forward to growth in their business this year, SMC will be charged with events, activities and educational forums to help sales and marketing professionals rise to the top.

We’ll start the year out with the Million Dollar Circle Awards on Tuesday, February 21, to honor the elite sales counselors in our industry. Contact the GHBA to submit nominees and to purchase tickets. The full calendar for 2012 will be coming soon!
