Teen Acting Series: Audition Techniques Getting ready to audition for your school show, a local production, or college? Learn to put your best foot forward and knock the socks off an audition panel in this 4-week workshop. Work on monologues, cold readings, and overall confident presentation so you can bring your best self to a compelling and successful audition. Students do not have to sing, but if there is significant interest in working on audition songs, we may adjust course goals to incorporate that possibility.

Adult Acting Series: Monologue Study


Whether prepping for an audition or deepening your acting abilities, this class will strengthen your skills in dramatic interpretation, character development, and other acting techniques that offer lasting effects onstage and off. Beginners will be amazed at what they can accomplish and rusty veterans will brush up on skills and acquire new performance tools. Students may choose to informally share class work with family and friends at semester’s end. Please bring in one or two monologues you like—no need to memorize in advance.

when you take Monologue & Scene together Adult Acting Series: Scene Study


Work on paired or small group scenes from a variety of genres in this supportive class, examining the depth of possibility within the text, the story, and yourself. Exercises that promote awareness, playful experimentation, group observation, and constructive feedback encourage the safe exploration of new acting territory. Class is open to bashful beginners, as well as those with more experience who want to sink their teeth into a rich character or dynamic conflict without facing an audition first. Students may choose to informally share class work with family and friends at semester’s end.

Want to open for Joan Rivers on the MainStage? Joan is looking for a good man to kick off her show on Thursday, April 26. To find the right guy for the job, we’re hosting a contest for 10 stand-up comedians in FlynnSpace on Thursday, March 22 at 7:30 pm. Contestants perform for 10 minutes each, and a winner is selected by an esteemed panel of judges from the Burlington area. The winner receives a 20-minute slot on the MainStage to open Joan’s performance on April 26.

Adult Performance Ensemble Inspired, evolving adult actors who love improvising and creating theater with others are invited to apply for this well- made ensemble. Advance your acting skills as you make short original work through improvisation and composition prompts. Independent studio time and a final performance are part of the program.

Laugh Attack: Stand-up Comedy


Join the supportive and hysterically funny folks in this performance-based workshop. Learn the elements of comedy, work on guided writing exercises, and develop and practice your own stand-up material in every class. Class ends with the ultimate challenge: an optional live performance in front of a full house in FlynnSpace on Wednesday, April 4.
