Playing in exhilarating small combos under the tutelage of working professional artist/educators, students develop individual styles while learning an essential repertoire of blues, standard tunes, and jazz. This development is enriched by Summertime Jazz intensive studies plus public performances in FlynnSpace, at First Night Burlington, and at the Discover Jazz Festival. This program’s tuition includes tickets to hear two amazing jazz performances on the Flynn MainStage: SFJAZZ Collective performing the music of Stevie Wonder on Friday March 2 at 8 pm, and Brazilian jazz wizard Hermeto Pascoal on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 pm. The Rock/Blues combo introduces students to simpler forms with an emphasis on melody, harmony, and rhythm. The Adult Combos offer amateur musicians a much-needed place to make music with like-minded peers and develop skills in ensemble playing and improvisation. All combos consist of bass, percussion, piano, guitar, and horns.
