AUTUMN/WINTER EDITION
It’s November and that hearkens the beginning of the holiday and party seasons.
I often say “clothing is armor” but it’s more than that, clothing is non-verbal com- munication—it tells those around us who we think we are and more often who we’d like to be. This month I’m picking five scenarios and showing you what to wear to look appropriate... and smashing!

BRUNCH WITH FRIENDS: A brunch with a group of your boy-
friends is the male equivalent of a scene from Sex and the City—and it’s just that fast, fun and fabulous. But you had better bring your A-game because your crew is chatting, cruising and checking you out. You want to keep it loose—like you didn’t try, yet still look fly.
THE LOOK: Acne denim and old school trainers. Hip and modern meets retro cool.
INTIMATE DINNER FOR TWO: The Holidays are about managing
time with friends, family and co-work- ers, but it’s important to remember to make time with your significant other. Just because it’s only the two of you, doesn’t mean there is any reason to slack off. Keep the look sexy, because we all know where an intimate dinner can lead.
THE LOOK: Trousers, a fitted shirt and cute undies. Show off that physique.
DINNER WITH YOUR BOSS: Isn’t it funny how the Holidays coincide
with your year-end evaluation? Just when you are running about buying gifts and reconnecting with friends and family? It’s also important to spend a little face time connecting with the man (or woman) who pays your salary. The right dinner, the right conversation and the right outfit can set you up glamorously for the New Year.
STYLE NOTE: Mens style is all in the details. Pull out a pocket square. Use that tie clip. and wear French cuffs.
THANKSGIVING DINNER WITH THE IN-LAWS: Thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws
is probably the most important dinner you will ever have. If you factor in football it can be the longest day ever. At least with Christmas there’s the distraction of presents. What you must never forget, is around the in-laws you are always on. Dress like a man—and tone it down!
THE LOOK: Think layered. A cashmere v- neck over a shirt and tie with a great fitted blazer over it all.
WHAT TO WEAR WHERE
BLACK TIE EVENT: The holidays signal fundraising
time. It’s the end of the year and chari- ties are pulling out all the stops. What does one wear to the HRC Gala or to the EQCA Awards? Black tie means one thing: a tux. There are really only two options, double or single- breasted with one or two buttons. And maybe on those rare occasions a shawl collar.
STYLE NOTE: Any more than two but- tons on any blazer makes you look like a pimp or a professional athlete. One button is chic.
