tion and sexuality therapy group. What is your take on sex? Sex is the most misunderstood subject in the world. I have
a very sex-positive approach and I believe there is no such thing as bad sex, as long as it is between two consenting adults. It is the one thing that touches our lives from life to death, yet interestingly enough it is a topic that people are so often afraid to discuss. People need to understand that there is no such thing as normal when it comes to sex. That’s why I’ve dedicated my professional life to helping people regain control of their sex lives. In the first episode of Bad Sex, you point out the fact you just noted regarding “no such thing as normal” when it comes to sex. Tell read- ers about what you work on with your clients and what they can expect to see in the series? I work with all issues pertaining to sex, from sexual pho-
bias to promiscuity and love addiction. The group on Bad Sex follows the real-life experiences of ten diverse participants undergoing an intensive, two-month program. It consists of both male and female participants who are both gay and straight and range in age from 20 to 40 years old. They arrive at the group with issues surrounding dangerous sexual promiscuity to those who are frigid when it come to sex and still virgins at nearly 40. I break them down to the core and let them know that it is Okay to feel whatever it is they feel about sex. You’ll never hear me say anything negative about the struggles people face because everyone has a different experience and is entitled to his or her feelings. Instead I address their deep-rooted issues around sex, infidelity, trust, relational intimacy and sexual addiction because so often sex is not the issue, but it is the manifestation of something else. In each episode we feature a deeper examination of the treatment process and progress of an individual group member. Over the course of the season, viewers will get to know each participant’s struggle and hopeful path to heal- ing from the rockiness of fearing sex and sexual destruction of addiction to it toward healthier lives.
