CONSTITUENCY

I am fortunate to have the Royal Blind School in the constituency. Led by Chief Executive Richard

Hellewell, the School provide outstanding day and residential care for children and teenagers with visual impairment. The School's

was recently nominated for the Scottish Care National Care Home Awards and have been listed as a finalist in the Specialist Adult Care Category. I'm delighted that the hard work of staff and pupils has been recognised in this way. The school were kind enough to invite me along to the Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on November 18. I cannot praise the school highly

enough and we're all keeping our fingers crossed that they return with the award. Good luck!

Many constituents in the Inch will know the fantastic work of Allison McPhail at the Inch Wednesday Club. Once a week, the Club holds

activities like bingo, exercise and music for local elderly housebound and disabled people. Allison has played a vital role

and it's great that her efforts are being recognised. There was a special presentation to Allison on October 31 at the Inch Community Centre.

It was announced recently that long-time Council employee Scott Donkin is to receive the City of Edinburgh Council's Excellence Award. Scott is a "well kent" face in Edinburgh

South and has done a tremendous amount of work for the Council and South Neigbourhood Partnership. Congratulations to Scott - along with

other Council employees - who do vital work for people across the city, in often hugely difficult circumstances. My thanks to them for all that they do for constituents here in Edinburgh South.
