The Edinburgh University Students Association (EUSA) recently held a event in association with the South
Central Neighbourhood Partnership Event. EUSA have done a great job over the last
few years to promote student volunteering and participation in communities across Edinburgh. Many of the student sports and social
societies go out to the local area and organise events. I have seen for myself their efforts particularly here in Edinburgh South.
Those who attended also developed ideas
for community projects to further improve the local community working. These projects will be helped with funding from South Central Community Grants Fund. If any students would like to discuss and
develop community volunteering ideas that they may have, they can visit
www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/volunteering or contact my office for further details.
Student Advice Sessions
I held my first Student Advice Surgery at Teviot at the university earlier this month.
There is a large studen community in South Edinburgh and I know that they often have issues
they would like to raise, both local and international. However, not everyone can make it along to my regular advice sessions at my Minto Street office and I want to be as accessible as possible. Holding such surgeries is a great way to speak with students. I hope to hold these once a month, with the next one on Friday 18 November at 1pm. Please do come along if you have any issues you would like to discuss.
