Hatherop Castle School in Gloucestershire is the fi rst and only independent prep school in the country to have achieved the Every Child Matters Award. This award is given by ECM Solutions, an educational and management consultancy, after an exceptionally rigorous process by an external assessor. The award assesses 12 standards which the school must meet and show evidence of, including, the school’s ethos and policies, the environment, management, and the curriculum and personal development of the children. Hatherop, who dropped its senior school in 1991, is proud of its record that in the last three years, nearly 50% of its Year 8 children have achieved scholarships to their chosen senior schools.
