Editor’s letter What’s inside

Welcome back after a not-so-hot summer! I am thrilled to announce that First Eleven is growing

again. Tis autumn, we are launching a senior schools magazine for older children in addition to producing two junior schools issues each term. Te second First Eleven Junior Schools will be in the schools just before the Christmas holidays, or you can order your own, to be delivered free to your home (please see page 77). Fired with a new burst of enthusiasm as I know you all are at the beginning of the school year, we have devoted this issue to helping you choose the right school for your child. Our Schools Directory will give you further insight into what’s out there for you. For those of you who have just

dropped off your child at their first boarding school, perhaps you will find a little consolation from Paranoid Parent in knowing that you are not alone. And why not spend some of that

newly found free time planning your next holiday? James Dunford Wood kicks off a series on How to show your child the world without spending the earth. Or you could enter our competition for a night at the fabulous Stobo Castle. After returning four feral children, who have run wild and roughshod around their parents for two months, I know I, for one, could do with a break!
