A RECENT survey commissioned by MSD Animal Health (formally Intervet/ Schering Plough Animal Health) has confi rmed that salmon producers are be- coming more confi dent in their ability to control Pancreas Disease (PD). Improved management techniques and experience with vaccination programmes is enabling farms to plan ahead of the traditional vaccination season and then adopt a strategy to support its success throughout the production cycle. ers have not vaccinated for PD in the recent past. However, the number of producers now planning vaccination or actively considering vaccination was high. The number of farms vaccinating for PD with Norvax Compact PD® has continued to grow throughout 2011, with an increasing number of farms plan- ning to use the vaccine in the next 5 months, many for the fi rst time. The company believes that the successes reported from earlier vac- cinations, coupled with the launch of their comprehensive PD Monitor programme (Fish Farmer May/June 2011), is providing the ideal guidance and support to key staff. With a greater number of producers using the vac- cine and PD Monitor, farms are also sharing experiences and knowledge and these factors are helping to build improved methods and
