EAS AE2011 All roads lead to Rhodes

FOLLOWING hot on the heels of their Forum at Aqua Nor, EAS are currently busy putting the fi nish- ing touches on their main event of the year, Aquaculture Europe 2011. And, with two months to go and over 600 abstracts received, the event is already promising to attract more participants than even last year’s Porto gathering. The Rhodos Hotel on the Greek island of Rhodes will become the venue for large numbers of aquaculture profession- als, academics and others. Sessions will address vital questions affecting the de- velopment of Mediterranean aquaculture over the next decade, with reviews of the importance of aquaculture in EU food production, the sustainability of aquac- ulture feeds and the implementation of selective breeding strategies in aquac- ulture. A review of current EU-funded research programmes will highlight their relevance to the current and future production practices. The conference will include an international trade show, a Farmers’ Day and a student workshop. It will also provide a platform to showcase European initiatives in aquaculture. Sea bass, sea bream, trout, tilapia, molluscs, nutrition and health are just some of the topics that will be discussed during the conference. For more infor- mation on the conference registration, programme, travel info, farm tours and exhibition, please contact mario@mare- vent.com for more information.
