portable HQ range. This is a great handheld device which is used for many parameters and not just dissolved oxygen. The HQ unit has proven to be one of our most popular and we sell many of them for both daily recordings and as a mini logger through lice treatments – it is an all round versatile solution.’ The HQ range has an extensive range of parameters it can record – including O2

ALL farmers are only too well aware that, as we reach the peak in our water temperatures, the ambient dissolved oxy- gen temperatures reach an all time low. Meanwhile biomass reaching a peak and high quantity meals all put a further strain on the fi sh’s demand for oxygen. It is well document- ed that, as the level drops close to 70 per cent, you are already losing appetite and growth.
Solutions
Storvik Aqua Ltd has been working on various solutions to help farmers combat and monitor natural environmental problems. After six years researching various combina- tions, Storvik Aqua is now one of the lead sup- pliers in independent environmental monitor- ing solutions. Working closely with their key supplier Hach Lange, the effort is very much on fi nding the correct solution for farmers both on- and offshore to assess the water quality in their production facilities. This, coupled with the supply of oxygen diffusing equipment in the Netox© and the Gas X© ceramics, allows the farmer to receive all his needs in one call. ‘We can provide many monitoring solu- tions,’ states systems engineer Derek Watson. ‘Storvik provide a range of products to allow the farmer to fully monitor all parameters in the aquaculture industry. We have many fi xed loggers in the market, using SC100 and LDO probes from Hach Lange. These systems are set up to log at regular intervals and the data is then submitted to a local PC or the web. But we also have many customers using the

perature, pH, salinity and ORP. This, coupled with the option to store recordings and down- load via USB to PC, makes it a very advanced handheld unit for the aquaculture market. Storvik Aqua Ltd, in partnership with Hach Lange Ltd, have also recently installed an ISE system to demonstrate its ability to record and monitor with great accuracy ammonia nitrates in a freshwater recirculation site. The system is also extendable and has the option to add probes to cover many parameters. It proved so successful that it was purchased by the client within 6 weeks of the demonstration. ‘We are delighted to be working so closely with Storvik Aqua in providing these great products to this area of the market,’ refl ects Dr Geoff King of Hach Lange. ‘Our experience in water quality and process, combined with the knowledge in the Storvik aquaculture team, makes for a powerful support system for fi sh farmers. Hach Lange will continue to work closely with Storvik and look to both improve existing products and develop new solutions.’
Storvik Aqua Ltd is happy to discuss with any farmers their demand and needs and will collaborate with Hach Lange to provide a secure and stable solution.
