September 2011 A LETTER
Hello Upbeat Times, I wanted to write with my sin- cere thanks for publishing the article about The Coast Pilots and our school music fund- raising project! A full page! Wow! Our hope is that this will inspire other musicians in Northern California to do some positive work with their local schools! The Earth’s shape could be described as an oblate spheroid. It’s kind of like a sphere, but the Earth’s rota- tion causes the equator to bulge out . What this means is that the measurement from pole to pole is about 43 km less than the diameter of Earth across the equator.
