RAVEN LOOKS FOR TALENT FOR LIP SYNC CONTEST BENEFITTING LOCAL CHARITIES


Healdsburg, CA – The Raven Performing Arts Theater is holding auditions for what the organization hopes will become an annual event – the Sonoma County Lip Sync Championship at the Raven. Auditions will be held Saturday, September 17, by appointment, for a rousing event that offers a share of the $1750 in cash prizes to non- profit organizations chosen by the winning acts. The adults-only event will


be held on Saturday, October 18. The Raven is actively recruiting acts from within the ranks of nonprofit groups within Sonoma County, but any group of locals is wel- come to participate. The first- place prize is $1000, second- place prize-winners get $500, and third-place act wins $250. All prize money is awarded to the winners’ favorite Sonoma County-based nonprofit orga- nization.

On Wednesday, September 21 at 6 PM the public is invited to attend The Sonoma County Human Dignity Film Festival, which will highlight films that explore the many aspects of the Deaf experi- ence and the meaning of com- munication. The films include "SEE WHAT I'M SAYING?", a documentary by and about deaf people, which won awards at the Newport Beach and Philadelphia Film Festivals, "WHERE THE SKY ENDS" the story of a young deaf boy's struggle to find mean- ing for himself in a hearing world and "THE END", which poses the question--what would the world be like without deafness?
