Seychelles

Imagine yourself standing on a white sandy beach, fringed by coconut palms with a backdrop of granite rock, gazing out at the beautiful blue waters, with nothing to disturb your peace except the waves lapping at your feet. Give in to the seclusion, privacy and romantic atmosphere of these stunning islands and you will understand why the Seychelles is a natural favourite amongst couples and honeymooners.

An archipelago of 115 islands, island hopping is a great way to explore and enjoy the sheer beauty of your surroundings. You arrive on Mahé, the largest of the islands and itself worth exploration with a host of beautiful beaches and Victoria, one of the world’s smallest capitals. From here, Praslin, the Seychelles’ second largest island, is just a 15 minute hop by plane or 40 minutes by ferry, and is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vallée de Mai where the famous coco de mer grows high on ancient palms. The surrounding smaller islands are equally beautiful and some are home to just one resort offering the ultimate in idyllic isolation. See our suggested island hopping itinerary on page 100 for inspiration.

If you feel like a break from pure relaxation, then most of the resorts offer excellent scuba-diving, windsurfi ng, snorkelling, sailing and many more activities. The Seychelles is also one of only two places in the world where giant tortoises are found, a must see highlight of your stay and you are likely to see them on Mahé, Praslin, Silhouette, Frégate and Denis.

With lush forests, sparkling lagoons and sun drenched beaches, you will discover why the Seychelles is a stunning haven of tranquility where you can easily leave the stresses of everyday life behind.
