Your journey commences on the west coast in the quaint fi shing village of Negombo. As you head inland to Sigiriya, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is a welcome stop where you can witness these magnifi cent animals during bath time in the local river. Soaring high above the plains, the extraordinary Sigiriya Rock Fortress awaits and will prove a highlight of your journey. Climb the 200 metres to the top to see the ruins of King Kashiappa’s Palace at the summit. This cultural centre also holds the famed cave temples of Dambulla, the 14 metre high Ayukana Buddha statue and ancient city of Polonnaruwa delving you deeper into Sri Lanka’s past. An exciting jeep safari at the Minneriya National Park gives you the chance to spot Sambar Deer and elephants. The beautiful city of Kandy is where you’ll fi nd the sacred Temple of the Tooth and Royal Botanical Gardens. Take time to visit the region’s spice garden and a traditional batik workshop producing beautiful silks. Complete your stay back at the relaxing beach resort of Negombo, a chance to unwind on its golden sands.

Tour Itinerary (6 nights/8 days)


Days 1 & 2 Fly to Colombo and transfer to Jetwing Beach, Negombo (1) for one night


Day 3 Set off to Sigiriya, en route visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Afternoon visit the Dambulla Cave Temples. Stay at Jetwing Vil Uyana, Sigiriya (2) for three nights


Day 4 Visit and climb the great Sigiriya Rock Fortress. In the afternoon visit the ancient Ayukana Buddha statue


Day 5 Head to the ancient town of Polonnaruwa and later that day enjoy a jeep elephant safari at Minneriya National Park


Day 6 Drive to Kandy for a city tour including the Temple of the Tooth relic. Enjoy an evening cultural show. Stay overnight at Earls Regency (3)


Day 7 Return to the beach resort of Negombo for relaxation. Stay at Jetwing Beach, Negombo (1) for one night


Day 8 Transfer to Colombo for your fl ight home to the UK
