The Qualifying events were introduced out of necessity to maintain a balanced national representation, and as a means to further encourage new participating countries into the competition. Also, as the Qualifying events are open to all residents of a country, it maintains the ethic that the WCC is inclusive, not exclusive. In 2011 there will be even

more Qualifying events held, with events in Romania, Denmark, South Africa, Hungary and possibly Japan amongst others. These events will further augment the current list of countries running Qualifiers. As momentum continues to build it is impossible to predict anything, so you would be well advised to check the WCC website regularly for any new additions to Qualifying events taking place in your country. All dates and locations will be announced as and when we receive confirmation with the information being made available on the WCC website.


Many of you will have heard the breaking news released in June of this year about the launch of World Catfish Classic. The launch, held at event host town Chiprana, was spectacularly well received and attended by a host of media, local dignitaries and a large
