FACTS: On November 17, 1997, Defendant gave Plaintiff an epidural anesthesia for the delivery of her 2nd child. During the pro- cedure Defendant pierced the dura sac and injected anesthesia in the subarachnoid space causing Plaintiff to become numb up to her chest. Plaintiff developed severe headaches and was treated with a blood patch. She thereafter experienced weak- ness and swelling in her right leg and right foot, uncontrolled movement in her right leg, and severe lower back pains. From that hospitalization through the present, Plain- tiff has had continuous lower back pain and numbness radiating down her right leg.


Allegations: Plaintiffs’ experts stated that Defendant caused a traumatic injury of the nerve root by a forceful insertion of either the epi- dural needle or catheter.


Injuries_Damages: Plaintiff has suffered a lumbar radiculopathy and major depression sec- ondary to chronic pain. In addition to medication therapy, she has had a spinal cord stimulator surgically implanted.
