years ago, in the shadow of Black
Monday which occurred in October 1987, the country was still feeling the effects of a recession. At the age of 33 John Bradley decided that he wanted to run his own business. In 1991 Eltham Car Sales was established on Eltham High Street.
John, a trained mechanic, had been in the motor trade since he was 16 years old. The establishment of a car sales business in those difficult times was a risky step, but family support and hard work has seen John and his family run business, Eltham Car Sales, grow steadily.
John said, 'I wanted to established a business that was part of the community. Somewhere people could come and know that we will do our best to get them into a good reliable car'

working with John, the proprietor, for a number of years. When the sales manager retired John's nephew Reece Green joined the business and took over the role of sales manager.
'Reece has always displayed an interest in cars and the motor industry, so when this opportunity presented itself I was willing to give him a go. It has work very well' Said John.
Reece outlined the current philosophy of the business, which has changed very little over the years.
'We focus on the smaller cars, hatch backs, two doors and smaller four door vehicles. We aim to sell good value for money cars that are economic to run.' Said Reece, 'Usually to first time owners, as well and second and third car buyers'.
'It is not just about the cheapest' quipped John, 'It is not good value or good for business if we were to sell
really cheap unreliable cars. All our cars are checked and represent good value and carry a warranty.'
'It is really gratifying when people, who pursed a car from us, return to get their next car or bring their son or daughter in to buy their first car' said John.
