product innovations Recognising achievement
A leading UK manufacturer of thermal insulation products has had the effectiveness of its Environmental Management Systems recognised with the Award of an ISO 14001 certificate. The certificate covers the Stoke- on-Trent manufacturing facility operated by Recticel Insulation Products and marks the success to date of an ongoing initiative to raise environmental standards in every area of the company’s activities. The Certification was awarded after a series of assessments made by auditors form Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). The drive to achieve this certification has seen Recticel address many areas of its operations, including waste creation and processing, water consumption, wastewater disposal and even fire risk. This latest development comes just a short time after the company was awarded an independent Certificate of Competency by the Thermal Insulation Manufacturers and Suppliers Association and the British Board of Agrément. This award confirms Recticel’s abilities to provide customers with both U-value and condensation risk calculations which meet stringent quality standards. For further information visit

Burglar resistant
GEZE UK is launching a burglar-resistant version of its classic Slimdrive SL sliding door system. The new Slimdrive SL WK2 sliding door system from GEZE UK is fitted with additional components to aid security and prevent damage from vandalism. It can also be used internally to protect rooms containing high value equipment or objects. The burglary-resistant components include a floor guide with a reinforced support angle bracket, which provides anti-lift protection for the moving door leaf and an electromechanical rod lock that is integrated invisibly into the profile system, which can be connected to the building management system or alarm. The system also incorporates an anti-tilt roller carriage, reinforced floor plate and slide protection and access protection. Designed to prevent opportunistic intruders, the door system is tested to component resistance class 2 (WK2) in accordance with DIN V EN V 1629 to 1630, proving it is capable of withstanding entry attempts with WK2 class tools including screwdrivers, pliers and wedges as well as static and dynamic loads.
