It’s show time

The months of May and June saw a burst of exhibiting in and around Birmingham and London. The focus areas were fire and safety at International Firex, IFSEC the global security event, facilities show and safety health expo and KBB, which made its mark at ExCel in London with its innovations in bathroom designs, kitchen concepts and bedroom installations. The show had a different vibe to previous events but

this may have been due to the new location. The quality of exhibitors was spot on as always. The bathroom sector in particular was showing real promise, a new age in design with the onus on suppliers to create fittings that are not to be hidden but showcased. Sinks, baths and taps are now to all play an integral role in the design concept - don’t conceal, reveal. The boutique area of KBB this year added a spot of glamour to the occasion and the seminars attracted visitors with their discussions on restorations and renovating. International Firex and IFSEC both continue to promote awareness in the safety and security sector and do so with great success each year. Here we have a round-up of companies who exhibited at these shows, introducing new concepts and wow crowds with their creativity. 

In Touch with Timber line-up

Simon Knox of Knox Bhavan completes the architects’ programme for TRADA’s flagship conference In Touch with Timber on the morning of Tuesday 27th September at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. He joins Roddy Langmuir of Edward Cullinan and Jim Greaves of Hopkins to discuss the theme, ‘Timber – the first choice for excellent design’. These leading designers will draw from their own award-winning projects to make the case for timber. TRADA Membership & Marketing Manager Rupert Scott commented,

‘A combination of materials is usually needed to achieve a great result, so we are not advocating timber only buildings. However, we firmly believe that using timber as a major material on almost any project provides the greatest scope for truly outstanding design.’ Now an integral part of the TRADA Technology-backed Timber Expo

2011 exhibition, In Touch with Timber will continue to inspire ‘through case study examples of everything that is new and ground-breaking in timber’, Mr Scott added. This year, however, the programme comprises four different, three-hour modules over two days, enabling delegates to personalise their visit to Timber Expo by booking the sessions most relevant to their business. The pricing structure offers discounts with maximum flexibility. Multiple

tickets for individual sessions can be bought and used in three ways: • The same person attending several sessions • Several colleagues all attending the same session • Several colleagues attending different sessions

TRADA member/ non-member 1 ticket £80/ £100 2 tickets £130/ £150 3 tickets £160/ £180 Subsequent tickets: £55/ £60
