product innovations Breathe more easily
Gripple has launched a comprehensive, four- pronged marketing campaign in the UK, to encourage construction specifiers to 'face the facts' and focus on the significant benefits of its innovative and unique wire joining, tensioning and suspension systems - starting with their vital environmental advantages. The initial phase of the initiative, comprising informative mailers, e-shots and advertising, highlights the fact that Gripple's wire rope suspension system, because of its
reduced bulk and weight, offers a CO² saving of 95 per cent. It is estimated that a saving of 1.2kg
of CO² will be achieved for every metre of wire rope specified in place of rod. This means an
estimated 100,000 tonnes of CO² have so far been removed from the UK alone. Because the Gripple system is compact and lightweight, it also minimises transport miles, both in volume and weight. Recently, in a 15,000 sq ft DIY warehouse, containment and lighting was installed for a client with strict environmental targets for new build and refurbishments. With this in mind, Gripple provided a detailed environmental impact study,
which assessed the CO² emissions, which traditional methods would produce. The company was able to show that using its system equated to a
reduction of 4.5 tonnes CO² per store. For further information visit

FSC paper composite
worktops Established in 1943 in USA, Richlite has now been introduced to the UK and is available in a choice of seven colours and thicknesses (6mm to 75mm). Made from layers of FSC paper bonded with VOC free Phenolyic resins, it is extremely strong (literally bullet-proof!), durable and water impervious. It stands heat temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and is virtually maintenance free. Richlite has been widely used for commercial and residential kitchens because of its excellent hygienic properties and yet is equally at home in industrial, hardworking environments. Architects have used the material for cladding, wall decoration and furniture. Richlite can be machined and sanded just like wooden worktops and has an appearance similar to slate.
