- 275,000 young people were doing their DofE in the UK.
- Over 850,000 young people were doing their DofE worldwide.
Since 1956, over 4,484,534 young people have started their DofE and 1,974,646 have achieved a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the UK alone.
Every day in the UK
- 503 young people embark on their DofE journey. - 217 young people achieve a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
- £53,000 is the equivalent value given to local communities through young people’s volunteering activities.
Our volunteers
- Our young people are inspired and supported by over 50,000 adult volunteers. Each volunteer supports an average of five young people.
- Last year they dedicated 1.86 million hours to our Charity.

A Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is achievable by all. For example:
- 30,000 young people doing their DofE are from a disadvantaged background.
- DofE programmes are run in 95 universities/higher education colleges.
- 14% of participants are from a minority ethnic background.
- over 23,000 young people started doing their DofE through a National Voluntary Organisation, such as the ATC, Scouts, Girlguiding etc.
- 4% of participants have a disability. - 1,204 young people did their DofE using the Welsh language.
