Closing Keynote Speaker - Sheriff JB Smith
Sheriff J. B. Smith has continu-
ously been elected Sheriff of Smith County since 1976 and is one of the top two longest serving Texas sher- iffs out of 254 counties. As a licensed Texas auc-
tioneer he holds numerous local auctions for various non-profit or- ganizations. In addition, as a 17 year member of the National Speak- ers’ Association, Sheriff Smith has been called to speak to different organizations throughout the nation. The sheriff has a personal connection to fairs. He has
served on the East Texas Fair board for approximately 30 years. The sheriff’s office has been in charge of security for his local fair since 1985. He has also been awarded the honor of lifetime member of the East Texas Fair As- sociation and the 2006 recipient of the Volunteer Award. My favorite fair food – funnel cake deep fried and greasy! The sheriff’s humorous approach to life has resulted in
requests to speak nationwide. He has spoken twice on the stage at the Nugget in Reno, Nevada. His philosophy on life is “Blessed are those who laugh at themselves for they will never cease to be amused.”
Year in Review Video
A re-cap video of the 2010 - 2011 Florida Fairs is being made. The video will be shown at the Florida Federation of Fairs convention in May in Daytona Beach and will be a collection of digital pictures transferred to video format.
If your Fair is in the next few weeks, please don’t miss the opportunity to take beautiful pictures of people and the events at your Fair. If your Fair has already been held, check around for some photo- graphs of your Fair and the people who run it.
