WPS Completes UK Installation

Trying to ease traffic congestion

into city center Leicester, UK, and to cut pollution, Leicester Councils have awarded a car park contract to WPS Parking Systems (Imtech). The compa- ny says its integrated Park & Ride Ticket Management Solution combines the strength of WPS parking manage- ment solutions with cost-effective, low-emission bus service into Leices- ter city center. Leicester Councils also had key

criteria that needed to be addressed in a way that would enable an efficiently run operation. To prevent vehicle queues at the entrance to the car park, no barriers are allowed. Car park occu- pation is solely and exclusively by those who use the bus service. Also, to cut costs associated with cash collec- tion from unattended pay stations, payment is made on the bus, rather than within the car park. The company’s parking manage-

ment solution plus its WPS-designed bus-ticketing units let customers sim- ply park their car, buy a ticket from the bus driver as they board, show the driver the same ticket on the return journey, and use it to open the barrier when leaving the car park.

when MPS considered upgrading its equipment, the decision was made to update the existing revenue control equipment, instead of replacing it. The ZMS Enterprise software will be

deployed with Microsoft-platform fea- tures that include integration of the Microsoft Active Directory for improved administration controls on larger sites, clustered databases and increased web- based features.

The PARCS will still export real-time

data to other airport systems, including its award-winning SurePark customer notifi- cation modules. Also included is the func- tionality of ePark, which earned the IPI Award of Excellence. This ticketless sys- tem, developed by Zeag for the MAC, is currently being used by more than 80% of its parking customers.
