Q & A

What makes you ladies cry every time? Jessica: Any suffering, human or animal. I just feel the help- lessness of them to my very core! Tiffany: Mean people being mean to children. It also both- ers me when people come out of the ring after a bad round or a rail and they are so upset they can’t even talk to people. It’s a temper tantrum and bad behavior and I can’t stand to see that. What makes you laugh? Jessica: My family and all animals. Pat- rick Seaton every time! He is so en- tertaining and funny. He coached me to my first Grand Prix and his humor washed away all the nerves. I love that guy!

Tiffany: People who have close rela- tionships and the sarcastic personal- ity of being able to joke and laugh, at themselves BUT never at anyone else. Shari Lowe is that way, she has such a dry sense of humor we laugh all the time. What would you change about your life if you could? Jessica: I wish I had taken more time to appreciate how special my child- hood was. I have such a tremendous family and sometimes we take that for granted. Looking back it was magical and I wish I had told those close to me that more often. Tiffany: I think I have nothing I would change. Even how sick I was because it let me ask that very question. I am blessed to have had the childhood I did and I now live ev- eryday to the fullest. What don’t we know about you? Both: Every Monday night is set aside for a sibling dinner. It’s been 10 years ongoing and we miss very few. It’s at our older brother, Brian’s house. It started because he was the only one with cable and now it’s a time none of us miss if we can help it. We even drive home from shows when pos- sible, we love our siblings. What advice would you give? Jessica: Remember how lucky we are to even get to do this! After breaking my leg, then my ankle in 2010, I got to reflect on how fun it is and really how fortunate we are. BE KIND, to your family, the person sitting next to you, the back gate guy, and the lady who waves us in at the stable gate. You never know what is going on for them and a friendly smile can work wonders. Tiffany: Appreciate what you have and what you get to do BUT keep it relative! None of this showing stuff is worth getting upset over and certainly not worth being a jerk. Take care of your trainers and grooms and treat them with respect. Being nice gets you further and it makes people more inclined to want to be around you and do things for you. It would be terrible if people are only around you be- cause you pay them and they ‘have’ to be, treat them with kindness.

responses were interesting from these two when given the opportunity to say anything they wanted: Jessica: Have goals, whether it be the 3’ hunters, lead line, getting a lead change that has been elusive or leading a vic- tory gallop. Set them and strive to be the best you can, es- pecially in relationships with the people around you. Think Globally, the world is bigger than what is happening right here and ‘this’ is not the big picture. How can you give back?? Tiffany: I admire my Grandfather, Robert Galvin. His phi- losophy is “Do everything you do as well as you can do it. Whether CEO, laundry, cooking dinner or loving your fam- ily. Be the best at it you possible can and blame no one for anything, look at yourself first! Find a place where people need you and give back, that will be given back to you ten- fold. It’s not only about “us”. Each of them is an individual but there is so much alike

n wrapping up the interviews, the

in them. It is mostly their kindness and true appreciation and gratitude. They are at a place in life that compliments them and yet they have so much more on the horizon. The main thought to come away with is: their humbleness is breathtaking and rare. “Please, thank the people who make all this possible.

HITS, Blenheim, LEG, Leone, Harvey and all the show managers. It is a lot of work and tons of money they put on the line all the time and take the risk so we can do this. Without them we would not have the chance to do this. Until we are willing to put our own money on the line, cre- ate one of these shows and take the heat they do, we should not criticize. After all, it is our choice to come or not. “ “Please also know, we are thankful to the sport for even existing. What a pleasure and privileged to be able to be a part of it in any way. We are really lucky and blessed, ALL OF US!!”
