Listen to my audio interview with Rudy DeFelice. He and his partners have created a free new website that teaches children how to set goals, to save money and to learn to value what they receive. Built into this easy- to-use program is an emphasis on charitable giving as well. Mr. DeFelice says the idea was born out of need. Tired of watching the piles of plastic toys at birthday parties that would soon end up in landfills, he realized there had to be
a better way. He also wanted to teach his own children the value of goal- setting and planning, as well as the feeling of accomplishment that comes from reaching a goal. It is his mission to inspire a generation of kids to be financially responsible, something that is desperately needed in our debt-laden society today. Listen to the interview to hear more about Mr. DeFelice’s thoughts on this topic. What I loved about this site and about the concept of
KidWorth.com was how easy it is to use. Children will love seeing their goals in writing on the screen, along with photos of themselves. They will be able to track their progress towards their goals and celebrate once they are
achieved. Having a visual record of their progress makes the process more meaningful to children.
As I was looking through the website, one of my first questions and concerns was about safety. Mr. DeFelice assured me that privacy controls are built into the program and that no one can access your children’s information except for you and anyone you invite.
