BAY AREA BUILDERS ASSOCIATION NEWS
Ways to Make 2011 Great W
e are living at a pivotal time in our country’s history, and the climate of
our nation in 2010 severely impacted the homebuilding industry. As we hope for a major positive shift and an upswing in the economy in 2011, we would be wise to consider what we can do differently to make a positive shift in our own businesses. Here are a few ways to get started:
PARTICIPATE Be an active part of the GHBA, not just someone who watches from the sidelines. The GHBA is based on relationships, and the best way to form those relationships is to get involved beyond attending a monthly luncheon. Serve on a committee or volunteer on a project and you’ll see those relationships start to form.
RALLY Fully exercise the authority you have as a citizen of this great nation and as a member of the homebuilding industry! When you make a contribution to HOME- PAC, GHBA’s political action committee, it allows us to pool our resources and unite to support the best qualified, pro-housing candidates for local and state office.
2011 BABA President Phil Messarra M.E., CR of
MasterCraftsmen.com. Messara is a certified lead remodeler and a mechanical engineer.
Legislative Rally Day is Wednesday, February 23, and you won’t want to miss it! During each legislative session, GHBA sponsors a day trip to the Texas Capitol in Austin to build support for the housing industry. Transportation is provided for attendees and you’ll have an opportunity to meet and speak with elected officials throughout the
day. It’s one of our most popular events and one of the very best ways to get connected within the GHBA.
ELEVATE As GHBA members we have the unique opportunity to raise the bar in our industry through our pursuit of professional designations. The GHBA gives us the opportunity to take advantage of education classes featuring industry experts. Education is what sets us apart and elevates our level of professionalism.
GROW Join with me to meet our goal of “Twenty New in 2011.” I’m asking each builder and associate of the Bay Area Builders Association to help us increase the number of builders that we have actively involved. My personal goal is to recruit 20 new builders this year…and I’ll need help from all of you to do just that.
ATTEND BABA has a great line-up of speakers on tap for the New Year. Don't miss our first meeting on February 1 featuring Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale. What an inspirational first meeting! Next we'll welcome Frank Lucco on March 1 to discuss "Appraisal Issues," a major hot button issue for the industry. We're also looking forward to hearing from Patty Huey in April for "HAR and Real Estate Issues." And here's a hint: you might want to sign up early for the May BABA Forecast Luncheon, which always draws a standing room only crowd.
Dream large, work smart and enjoy the New Year!
