Riverstone Donates More Than $12,000 to Two Fort Bend Charities

Just in time for the holidays, Riverstone donated more than $12,000 to two Fort Bend organizations, the proceeds from acclaimed artist Tracy Lee Stum’s 3-D art installation in the community.

Thousands toured the work, which Stum created in a multi-million-dollar estate home by Sterling Classic Homes in Riverstone during October. Thanks to the success of the event, Riverstone gave a check for $7,580 to Fort Bend Seniors/ Meals on Wheels and a second check for $5,055 to the Fort Bend Junior Service League.

“We were pleased that Riverstone had the opportunity to host a successful event that also benefited the Fort Bend community,” said Tom Wilcox, general manager of Riverstone. “Both of these organizations do great work in the Fort Bend area and we are glad to support their efforts.”

Tracy Lee Stum, the Guinness World Record holder for the largest street painting by an individual, has created 3-D images around the world, including an 11,000-square-

Greystar Real Estate Partners to Build Garden Apartments in Grogan’s Mill

Greystar Real Estate Partners has purchased a 12.4-acre site in the Village of Grogan’s Mill for construction of a 300-unit, three- story upscale garden apartment community, according to Dan Leverett, vice president, commercial

for The Woodlands Development Company. The apartments are being designed for LEED for Home Certification and National Green Building Standards Certification.

The site is situated off South Millbend Drive adjacent to the Grogan’s Mill Village Center where The Woodlands Athletic Center (WAC) was formerly located. Ingress and egress will be off South Millbend Drive with a secondary exit for residents and emergency use off Winterberry Place. Thirty to forty feet of forest preserve will surround the community, and there will be direct access to The Woodlands’ network of hike and bike trails. Residents will have views of the forest and the on-site resort-style pool from their apartments.

Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2011, with opening planned for early 2012.

The community will be gated and will feature rough-sawn cedar, stone and hardi-plank exteriors. Detached garages and carports will be available for rent. The project has been designed by Meeks + Partners Architects and Greystar Development & Construction, L.P. will perform as general contractor.

On-site amenities will include a 6,500-square-foot clubhouse, resort-style pool with cabana, fitness center, lounge, tanning room, cyber café and dog park. The property will be pet-friendly.

GHBA sends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Margaret (Marge) Dole Bawden, 88. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Bawden, earlier this year.

She and Frank traveled widely and spent 11 years raising their four children in Caracas, Venezuela. They later settled in the Houston area in the early 1970s and made their home in the Columbia Lakes golf community for the last 40 years.

Marge is survived by her sister, Nancy Dole Harriman; and brother, Dr. Kenneth van Winkle Dole; as well as daughter, Ann Bawden Derrick and her husband, John, of Austin, Texas, daughter, Margaret Bawden Day and her husband, Bradley, of Boston, Massachusetts, daughter Jane Bawden, of Houston, Texas; and son, Daniel Dole Bawden and his wife, Konne, also of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marge was an avid golfer and had many devoted friends. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, sense of humor and her natural, sparkling outlook on life. She was fully and lovingly accepting of everyone and always made them feel important and welcomed in her home.

Her all-encompassing love and abiding eagerness to experience adventure and life at its fullest will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. She finally hung up her scuba tanks and tennis racquet when she turned 80 years of age. She was musically talented; she sang, played the piano and passed on her passion for music to her family. She was an amazing artist and created works in sculpture, oil paintings and water colors most of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Columbia, Texas.
