MONTGOMERY CO. DIVISION NEWS
era tax reforms were spared and the capital markets have responded in a positive way. These reforms are imperative with regard to long-term spending and are an impetus behind the recovery of employment and the rebirth of the housing market.
Many Thanks I
Credit is alive. Developers, builders, buyers and lenders are all more attentive to the market in the New Year. Unemployment has held steady and foreclosures haven’t brought down the market. The 2010 numbers are in, and although no one had a banner year, at the end of the day, things were not as bad as the headlines indicated they might have been.
The market’s uncertainty is ubiquitous. Uncertainty is scary. The key to survival in such uncertainty is teamwork; we are all in this together. We all must produce a product the market accepts and we all answer to a bottom line. The good news is that we are not alone.
t’s official, 2011 is well underway and things are moving in the right direction. The Bush-
We must work together to overcome these tumultuous times and prove that prosperity is still possible. Through hard work and teamwork, this is attainable.
Some of our most valuable team members are our colleagues and friends that are members of the GHBA. It is the relationships we forge through our involvement that we come to rely on, especially in times like these. Our fellow members become part of that team that is so necessary to assure our mutual success.
If you are not currently involved in our Montgomery County division, I encourage you to join us for one of our luncheons. You’ll find a dedicated group of developers, builders and associates that have become good friends and great business partners—just as I have. If you are attending for the first time, please let Karen Krenek at the GHBA know so we can make sure we personally introduce you to our board members and make you feel at home.
About the Council: The Multifamily Council represents the specific interests of builders, developers, building owners, architects, engineers and managers. The council advocates for legislative initiatives that support all size and types of condominiums and rental apartments. They work to eliminate regulatory barriers that drive up the cost of multifamily housing. The council promotes the benefits of green building, safety and higher density housing in providing a wide range of housing choices along with smarter approaches to growth and the revitalization of urban areas across the country.
