Feast of Folk Music A


feast of folk is in prospect this year in Eltham Folk Mob’s new season.


Having hosted folk legends Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick last year, the Folkmob had a hard act to follow when drawing up its plans for 2011.


But the club has landed two of the biggest fishes in the folk scene for its February and March concerts; north east troubadour Vin Garbutt and northern guitar wizard Michael Chapman.


Both are veterans of the folk scene and command loyal followings for the quality of their writing and performance.


First up, on February 23, is Vin Garbutt, son of Teesside, whose humour has

made him a favourite on the folk scene for more than 40 years. In 2001, he won BBC Radio 2 Folk ‘Best Folk Singer’ and ‘Best Live Act’ in 2001. ‘Powerful, hugely moving, warm, inspired, funny and gut-
