TRENDSETTING
seems to be the key to Designer’s content this month – perhaps even more than usual!
On the following pages, we have some project studies that simply have to be seen to be believed. They include the total overhaul of a South London home that transformed it from a dated and unloved Arts and Crafts house into a striking, sumptuous space. And if it’s outlandish inspiration you’re after, look no further than the Mark Humphey- designed interior for the über-expensive Jalouse Club in London’s Mayfair Offering a lesson in art, lighting and thoroughly brave design, it’s a look that many will want to imitate. We talk to the designer about the inspiration behind his stylish and highly detailed creation. We also have news of this year’s Prince Philip Designers Prize, presented recently at the
Design Council. This year’s list of nominees included some of Britain’s most talented and innovative thinkers from across all design disciplines. And whilst we’re talking about innovation, I’m delighting to announce that Designer is working with KBB London to launch an exciting new feature for next summer’s exhibition (15-17 May 2011, ExCel, London). The KBB London Innovation Centre will be showcasing the very best new products from the kitchen and bathroom industry. As well as inviting visitors to take a close-up look at the top designs at the show, we’ll also be announcing the overall winner of the KBB London Award for Innovation.
Please see page 46 for further details and to find out how you can nominate your favourite products for recognition. designer
