John Kent, Norman Ellenby, Brian & Jan Taffs, Geoff Furzland, Ray & Sylvia Needham ventured to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford for the Flying Proms. Never hav- ing been before & having been told that " it was old aircraft flying to music ", we were intrigued as to the show. The weather up to the 24th had been changeable to say the least but our concerns were unfounded as the day was bright. Flying didn't start until 7- 30p.m. & it was fascinating to watch the different types of air- craft flying at different speeds coordinating with the music be- ing played by the Glen Miller Orchestra. After the flying there followed the equivalent of the Last Night of the Proms music played by the English National Orchestra. The thousands of people who were there enthusiastically joined in waving flags & singing along to the well known traditional songs associated with the Last Night at the Proms.
