David Goodhill and myself, (Dennis Bragg) attended the Upminster Junior School in St. Mary‟s Lane to participate in the annual end of term quiz. (You may re-call that our club presented the school with a trophy, for the winners of this quiz, two years ago)

There were four teams of four from the 3rd and 4th. Years and the 5th. and 6th. Years. The four teams, in the two separate quiz- zes, represented The Red, Blue, Yellow and Green Houses of the school. Making up the audience were the pupils of the re- spective year groups.

David became the Question Master and I was the Adjudicator. When the first ques- tions were read out it was like being at Wembley Stadium, with the supporters yelling out the answers. David soon showed his authority, calm was quickly restored and the quiz was able to continue. At the end of a very enjoyable competition, the Yellow Team were declared the overall winners and were duly presented with the cup. This is my second year at this event and it is a most enjoyable couple of hours spent with the youngsters. We are looking forward to repeating the experi- ence next year. Dennis Bragg

Adjudicator Dennis with David Donaghue Head- master of the Upminster Junior School.

(Editor‟s note). I would like to pass on the good wishes of the club to Mr David Donaghue, the headmaster of the Upminster Junior School, who retired at the end of the summer term. David began the quiz several years ago and was very enthusiastic about our club getting in- volved .Before he retired he said he hoped that the tradition of

the quiz and the involvement of the Rotary Club of Hornchurch and Upminster would continue for many years to come. And so say all of us!
