For the second year running two of our members, this time Rtn Jim Haines and FP Colin Free- man, joined staff and pupils from Dycorts School, Harold Hill on a boat trip along the River Stort towards Bishops Stortford. Having last week en- joyed blue skies, glorious sunshine and 28c tempera- tures on the trip to the RAF Museum in Hendon (where we were mostly inside) the weather for this trip was grey, cool and rain- ing. This didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the kids who all seemed to have a great time with a number of them getting the

chance to have a go at the tiller.

A highlight for some of the kids was a passing view through the trees of David and Victoria Beckham's house known affectionately in the press as 'Beckingham Palace'.

In a world of mad rushing around at high speed it was good to have time to chug slowly through the countryside. One of the Dycorts' Teaching Assistants remarked that she thought it would be

chaotic to control the kids who had been so excited about the trip but, as it turned out, the slow pace of the boats along the canal seemed to calm the kids too who were incredi- bly well behaved and great fun to be with. Should we do it again next year? You bet!
