INDUSTRY INFORMATION REVELANT TO YOUR BUSINESS

implement and maintain night vision goggles is our business,” explains David Luke, Vice President and NVG Subject Matter Expert (SME) for NFC. “We know the power of night vision goggles and the technical advantage that this capability can have in transforming the effec- tiveness of night operations. However, there are challenges and risks associated with improp- er NVG use. This webinar will present a technical and regulatory overview to alleviate the confu- sion and concerns relating to issues of NVG selection, classifi- cation and capability.” For further information on the webinar, visit www.night- flightconcepts.com/webinar , or call 888-632-8764. ◆

Aerospace Optics Inc. unveils Pulse/Timer Switch at NBAA

Aerospace Optics Inc. will introduce the VIVISUN LOGIC SERIES Pulse/Timer switch to the aviation industry during the annual National Business Aviation Association meeting and convention Oct. 19-21 in Atlanta, Georgia. Aerospace Optics will be pro- viding hands-on-demonstra- tions of the new switch feature in booth 5815 throughout the convention. The Pulse/Timer switch

replaces other hardware items traditionally integrated into external circuits, including time-delay relays, external- pulse-generation circuits and relays that are used to change signal polarity. By bringing

external functions inside, the Pulse/Timer switch simplifies communication and avionics installations and improves switch per- formance by reducing cir- cuit design complexity, size, weight and cost. The Pulse/Timer feature gen- erates a timed output or pulse and the output duration is a selectable parameter. “The pulse is a conditional

response to an event that is occurring elsewhere on the air- craft,” said Loren Jensen, presi- dent and COO of Aerospace Optics. “For example, if smoke was detected, the Pulse/Timer would sound a buzzer for 10 seconds and cause the LOGIC SERIES switch to blink. The Pulse/Timer would then allow for a manual reset of the system

or maintain a continuous alarm loop until the smoke cleared.” The Pulse/Timer switch is a two-channel device. It can initi- ate an action while letting go of a secondary signal, drive a logic- level into an electronic device, set blink time for the LOGIC SERIES switch and turn on a device – such as horns, buzzers and indicators – for a set time parameter. It can read various changes of state such as weight- on-wheels and weight-off wheels. ◆
