year NEMSPA entered into an agreement with Alertness Solutions to act as a reseller for Z-Coach to the air medical community. Z-Coach is an inno- vative and comprehensive Internet based training program that provides you with knowledge, strate- gies and tools to achieve peak performance and safety through optimal sleep and alertness. Some of the topics addressed are general circadian science, effects of fatigue on performance and countermea- sures that can be used to help reduce errors when “tired.” More information about Z-Coach and the cited white paper are available at www.nemspa.org.

DC, and later demonstrations by Jim Wisecup and Ron Fergie to FAA officials in Salt Lake City. NEMPSA continues to impress the importance of NVGs upon both the FAA and NTSB. Many of you participated in the NEMSPA NVG survey, conducted two years ago. These survey results have been cited on numerous occasions by representa- tives from various government agencies. Our recent position statement (available at www.nemspa.org) states the advantage of a second crewmember on NVGs, while emphasizing the position that a sec- ond crewmember should not be required to con- duct any NVG operations, including landings into unimproved sites. We are excited to have Randy Rowles, who flies for Helinet, Dallas Children’s Hospital, on our board. Randy comes to NEMSPA with significant expertise and experience, particular- ly in the field of night vision goggle training and technology.

THANKS TO OUR MEMBERS We want to thank each of our members for

the support and encouragement they provide. This

is all about you, as air medical pilots, both fixed and rotor wing.

If you have an interest in a particular

area that you believe needs addressed, please let us know. We are always looking for help . . . and we really do need your help.

If nothing else, if you’re

not a member, we ask that you consider joining. The voice and influence of NEMSPA is backed by the strength of its membership. While there are some tangible benefits to being part of YOUR pro- fessional association, most of the rewards come in knowing that you are involved in the only organi- zation that is composed of air medical line pilots, where the sole purpose is to represent the safety interests of those pilots.
