CHRIS KERR QUESNEL MILLIONAIRES
Chris Kerr is determined to keep his
options open. That’s a good approach to take when it’s your first year in the BCHL and you’ve only just begun your final year of high school. These days, Kerr is mostly concerned with balancing books and hockey. And he’s getting better at it with the season a few months old. “At first it was difficult but it’s getting
easier now,” says Kerr, who spent all of Grade 10 and 11 at Penticton Second- ary School on the honour roll. “On the road, when there’s free time at the hotel I crack open the books.” Kerr can’t always be in class because
of his team’s schedule, but he insists that his teachers have been accommodat- ing of his schedule. He says he likes the challenge of switching mental gears from school to hockey and back again.
“Chris has made great strides. He’s going to be an excellent college player someday.”
- Glen Watson Mills head coach Glen Watson has
noticed gains in Kerr’s on-ice perfor- mance and knows his academic record will only help him in his hockey career. “He’s done very well to this point and
I believe he has a very bright future.” Like most BCHL players, Kerr hopes to
catch the eye of a college scout and re- ceive the opportunity to continue playing hockey while getting an education. “Receiving a scholarship is definitely the ultimate goal,” says Kerr.
